It's not time to be an Old man from Restelo

Once a time ago we were people of discoveries and conquests in seas never sailed before. Today we make a new history. Let us not be “Velhos do Restelo”, as the present requires a re-invention and we are no exception.
Camões, in an epic poem that exalts the Great Navigations, gives the floor to those who oppose the expansion project, the so-called “Velho do Restelo” (Old man from Restelo). An conversative analogy to that opposes discoveries, of new. A symbol of those who do not believe in success.
The word Restelo does not appear in the Lusiads. But the old man gave his famous speech at Vasco da Gama's departure for India, which is known to have happened on the old beach of Restelo. And it is for this reason that later authors nicknamed him Velho do Restelo (Old man from Restelo).
The character introduced by Luís de Camões between verses 94 and 104 in the fourth corner of his work Os Lusíadas (The Lusiads) is interpreted as a symbol of pessimists, of those who did not believe in the success of the epic poetry of the Great Portuguese Navigations.
The Velho do Restelo (Old man from Restelo) represents the opposition of the past versus the present, or the old versus the new.
We are all part of a people that in the 15th century set off on “seas never sailed before” with courage and determination. Resembling the past the past, it is time to rediscover ourselves.
This confinement we are subjected calls for initiatives. Monotony puts us in the discomfort of enormous apathy. The time has come to reinvent ourselves.
We are no exception. A new reality requires new approaches.
Last summer, with the aim of carrying our slang in our chest, we created the t-shirts with expressions and recurring slang in our daily lives. The aim is to make known not only the origin of these expressions, but also to take the Portuguese language further. Now, we decided to give voice to the standards. Tiles, dishes from Sacavém and Arraiolos carpets are the patterns that will be in the “Boca do povo” (people’s mouth) through the new masks.
Designed to protect us from new adversities with a traditional touch. Who said that a place for tiles are walls? That dishes are on the table? And the arraiolos carpets are on the floor?
A new interpretation of the patterns that enourmously characterizes us. 100% Portuguese with certified quality.
Our masks speak Portuguese. Tile for girls and dishes for boys. We're kidding! Our masks are for everyone, as we all defend our history, our culture.
With safety and certification use masks with tradition.

O carro alto do pai, nem o ar vazio
O grande Arquiteto co'o filho, dando
Um, nome ao mar, e o outro, fama ao rio.
Nenhum cometimento alto e nefando,

Vasco da Gama, once hero of Os Lusíadas de Camões (Lusiads of Camoes), today the heroes must be all of us as a people, as a nation.
In Lusíadas we see a Camões tired of struggles and wars, who longed for peace and tranquility. He missed his homeland and the bucolic traditions of his people.
Today we fight in our homeland with tradition as a shield (or “in the mouth”).
Fernando Pessoa already said “My homeland is the Portuguese language”. For us, Portugal is our beginning, our Inspiration.
